Photograph the fishermen: You’ll find plenty of fishermen to photograph in Newport, many of whom are more than happy to pose for a photo—if you ask nicely and promise to send a photo.

When composing your photograph, watch the background. Make sure it does not detract from the most important thing in the picture, the subject’s face.

Try to see eye to eye and photograph eye to eye. At that angle, the person viewing the photograph will feel as though he or she is right there with you.
